The first step to this categorical filtering is by creating different fields and areas within the system that you can put in specific information, tailored to you and your company’s needs! You can create these custom fields for any component in the system, whether it be for a maintenance request or a specific unit. There are a lot of options for how this field can be generated or filled in with data, and the names and amount of them are completely up to you and your team! This way, you can always have the information that you need and already work with set up directly into the online property management software, which will be necessary for the next step.

Filtering Information

Now that you have custom fields set up and filled in to your liking, you can utilize these very same fields to create filtering rules. For example, if you have a field for what kind of parking a unit has, you can create a filter that will show all units that have one specific type of parking, such as street parking. Then, you can easily click that filter and bring up only the units you are interested in! These rules can be one note, like that, or can be very intricate, combining a few different fields or many options from one field. Additionally, you can use one filter at a time, or you can select as many as you would like! You could have four or five selected to narrow down the two units that fit the bill for all that information, if you would like. This gives you complete control over how you sort and find different features within the system!
